Note for prospective students

I work on problems in theoretical and experimental machine learning. I use mathematical tools borrowed from statistics, signal processing, optimization, and statistical physics.

If you are strongly mathematically inclined, please reach out. I do not expect students to join with training in the above mentioned disciplines, but I expect the drive to learn whatever new mathematical concept necessary to succeed in your project.

Students enrolled at IIT Bombay:

• 3rd year UG/1st year PG: Please take a course I am teaching and do well in it. I currently teach the following courses at IIT Bombay.

  • DS 601: Learning and Inference in High Dimensions

  • DS 602: Mathematics of Deep Learning

• IDDDP: I expect you to stay on campus during the summer after your 4th year and enrol for either of DS 601 and DS 602 and excel in them.

• Final year UG: We have an excellent predoc program at C-MInDS. Consider being at IIT Bombay for an extra year after you graduate. I did it too!
